Everest Defibrillator Saves Life Just Weeks After Installation
A man who ventured to Mount Everest Base Camp to install the world's highest defibrillator has shared incredible news

The device saved a young woman's life just three weeks after he returned home. David Sullivan, founder of Code Blue CPR, a U.K.-based organization that provides CPR and defibrillator training, personally transported the vital equipment to the Himalayas. Sullivan, 62, traveled to an altitude of 22,000 feet to test the defibrillator before installing it at a village near Everest Base Camp, at over 16,500 feet. His efforts proved critically timely. After returning home on April 30th, he received a call on May 23rd from a Sherpa confirming that the defibrillator had been activated and successfully saved a 30-year-old French climber whose heart had stopped.

This life-saving success is a deeply personal victory for Sullivan, who began his advocacy after losing four friends to cardiac arrest, all under the age of 45. While in Nepal, he also conducted numerous CPR and defibrillator training courses for locals who had never received such instruction before.
Now back in the UK, Sullivan is focused on a new initiative: a program to train 1.2 million children across London in CPR and ensure every school has a new defibrillator. His passion stems from a past experience where his own CPR knowledge saved a young man's life, and he witnessed others unable to help. This impactful story from the world's highest peaks underscores the profound difference access to defibrillators and CPR training can make.
