He was born at Mercy Hospital and grew up in the suburb of Dolton. His brother, John Prevost, recalled his early dedication to missionary work. The name Leo XIV holds significance, recalling Leo XIII, known for his focus on social justice. This suggests the new Pope may prioritize similar values. As Pope Leo XIV begins his pontificate, his unique background offers a fresh perspective to the Catholic Church, bringing a sense of pride and hope to many.
