Touching Rescue: Paddleboarder Saves Shark from Deadly Entanglement
A Florida paddleboarder became a hero when she instinctively rescued a shark that was tightly entangled in fishing line.

Charity Clark, a 43-year-old photographer, was near Big Pine Key when she and her friends noticed a distressed shark, upside down and motionless, completely wrapped in thick rope. Without hesitation, Charity jumped into the water and gently began the delicate process of untangling yards of rope from the shark's body. She believes the shark was in a temporary, trance-like state called tonic immobility, which allowed her to work without the animal struggling initially.
Though unafraid at first, Charity admitted to a scream when the shark suddenly came to life and began to thrash. Despite the sudden movement, she had successfully freed the animal. Relief washed over the group as they watched the shark swim away. Charity described her actions as pure instinct, driven by seeing an animal in distress and knowing she had to help.
